Crossroads of the
Lake District

Ambleside can be considered the central crossroads of
the Lake District, north to Keswick and Derwentwater, South to Windermere
and Kendal. To the West is Skelwith Bridge and the Langdale's while a
breathtaking trip over Kirkstone Pass produces Ullswater and Glenridding.
A busy town for the passing tourist with plenty of
shops restaurants with plenty of accommodation, Bridge House was once an
orchard apple store before it became home for a basket weaver and his
family. The Smallest house in Cumbria it is now an Information Centre

Grasmere

The quaint Gingerbread Shop was built in 1660 as
Grasmere's School and today bakes Sarah Nelson's World Famous Recipe daily,
as it has since 1854.
The Gingerbread House is located in the corner of
the churchyard and will deliver Worldwide with Cumberland Rum Butter

Dove Cottage near Grasmere the home of William Wordsworth
and his sister Dorothy is open and has a Museum
with Tea
Room and Gift Shop along with Accommodation at How Foot Lodge, all within

Rydal mount overlooking Windermere was
Wordsworth's home from 1813 - 1850. His attic study and the living quarters
of his wife Mary and Children which were born at Dove Cottage are open to
view. As are the four acres of garden which Wordsworth tended to personally.
